Tianjia (Tina) Liu is a sophomore studying environmental science at Columbia University. At Irvine High, she was deeply involved in community service, as Tutor Captain at the Irvine Heritage Library and volunteer at the Discovery Science Center. Inspired by COSMOS and an experience as a co-author for a published research paper, she wants to pursue research at Columbia. She is also an amateur poet, avid blogger and book reader, and astronomy enthusiast. She enjoys learning about astronomy and sharing that knowledge with others. To foster that knowledge, she has attended an Astronomy course at community college and the Astronomy and Astrophysics cluster at COSMOS: UCI, the California summer camp for science and math.
This blog is dedicated to the wonderful science of astronomy. Everything about the cosmos interests me, and I want to share that interest with you. Let me show you the wonders of outer space! Everything written on this site so far is a compilation of notes that I have gathered from astronomy courses or prior knowledge, except for news articles which include the references in the post.
So far, I’m summarizing the key aspects of astronomy, such as information on the solar system, universe, theories, galaxies, and stars as well as will exploring current events in astronomy, interesting facts, stories, etc. If you comment, I promise to respond and I hope you will enjoy astronomy! I will also gladly answer questions if you wish to ask or take any requests for posts. I also have another blog called “Mind Paths,” where I post my poetry, art, and writings. Thank you for visiting “The Cosmos!”

I remember when Alan Shepard went up. The teacher brought a TV to school. We knew a new age had begun.
Wow, that must’ve been amazing! It’s fascinating how much technology and knowledge has allowed astronomers and engineers to discover new depths of astronomy.
Tina
I have nominated you a Liebster Award, please check my page and last post for details
Thank you so much!
Tina
Tina ! I’ve come to you via the Very Inspiring Blogger Award trail. I love that you are into astronomy! I like to discover, learn, imagine, and write as well! My first published story is centered on the constellation of Orion and the Greek myth of that egotistical giant. So glad I found your blog, I write mostly YA literary and science fiction. You are indeed a great inspiration! 😉
Wow, thank you Jammie. 😀 I’m glad we share same interests – astronomy, mythology. I just absolutely adore Greek myths, and mythology is often hand-in-hand with astronomy!

Hi Tina
Thanks for dropping into the Elephant House and liking a blog or two.
AnElephant likes likes.
Fascinating blog you have here – but too much for a poor pachyderm on a first visit.
Will be back, and AnElephant never forgets!
Hi AnElephant,
Hope you will visit soon! You could always visit my other blog for artistic posts.
Tina
Thank you Tina Liu, for part of time of your life that you will never get back given to me, I am indebted…
You’re welcome! 😀 You’re always welcome to visit this blog!
Tina
This looks wonderful, Tina! I am especially impressed (and inspired!) to see this from someone still so comparably young. (I am 54, and began my first blog when I was 52.)
And, you go! 😉
Riba,
Thank you for stopping by and commenting! After I started this website, I found it easier and easier to keep writing.
Tina
Yes, I believe in that—that the more we write, the more we want to write, the more ideas come, and so on. 🙂
I also want to add that astronomy is a passion of mine. I’ve owned a Celestron 8 for a LONG time, use Starry Night software, took some photos of Comet Halle-Bopp back in the 90’s and a lunar eclipse in 1989. (I also posted those images on my blog.) Also took some of the Enterprise shuttle went it flew into New York city. Best to you.
Rich,
Thanks for visiting and following my site! It’s so great that you have been involved with astronomy. Although I wasn’t born yet at the time, I’m sure the Comet Halle-Loop and the lunar eclipse in New York must have been wonderful to witness and capture.
Tina
